Treatment and Support
As everyone with ADHD is different, their needs will be different. It’s not just about stimulant medication which many people with ADHD need. It’s about finding what deficits they may have that needs assistance. We also need to treat the other co-existing conditions which may or may not be directly related to ADHD but make their management a bit more tricky. It also involves ducation about ADHD, behavioural strategies, parent training, school adjustments, coaching, psychological therapy, workplace accommodations, healthy routines, and medication where appropriate.
It’s about working together on:
- Correct diagnosis
- Characterise the type of ADHD
- Identify the practical deficits the person may have
- Identify the other related conditions
- Provide non-pharmacological treatment including psychotherapy
- Navigate the life journey together
