Our consultation fees
Quality medical care takes time and sadly, the current Medicare rebates do not support comprehensive quality medical care. We believe in spending time looking after you and your family. We are unable to bulk bill our consultations. The average out of pocket costs is between $45 – $65 for a standard 15-minute consultation. For longer consultations, the out-of-pocket expenses may be higher. Please check with our staff when you make your appointment.
We charge a reduced gap for patients of ATSIC heritage and are registered with the Close The Gap (CTG) scheme. Please ask our staff for details on how to access the CTG scheme.
There is also a charge to see our practice nurse for procedures including most vaccinations (except fluvaccines, covid-19 vaccines), ear syringing and wound dressings.
Telephone consultations
In general, all consultations on the phone (so-called tele-consult) whether during in-hours or out of hours will not be bulk billed. They will attract the same out-of-pocket cost as a consultation room consult. They attract a similar rebate from Medicare but we need to see the patient on a face to face consultation at least once in the last 12 months.
Cancellation fees
As appointments on most days are fully filled, it is unfair for other patients who are trying to see the doctor, the nurse or the exercise physiologist only to have a “no show” when someone who has made an appointment did not turn up for their appointment. To discourage this, there is a $25 no show penalty for patients who has made an appointment but did not cancel within 24 hours of the appointment. The penalty applies to appointments made to see Dr Khoo, Debbie, the nurse or Kin-Mun, the exercise physiologist.
